Our Story: Built for Lake City's Children
Pee Dee Innovation & Leadership Academy was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that the students of Lake City, South Carolina deserve a world-class education — one that meets them where they are and never stops pushing them forward. We created a school where innovation isn't a buzzword; it's how we teach, how we lead, and how we grow every single day.
Our mastery-based approach ensures that no student is passed along before they're ready. Every skill is taught, practiced, and confirmed at 80% or higher before we move on. When a student needs more time, we provide structured intervention, small group support, and a second opportunity to demonstrate mastery. When a student succeeds, we celebrate — including with a well-earned half-day on Friday. In 2025, that commitment earned us the Innovation in Charter School Development Award.
We are proud to be a Leader in Me school, equipping students with the habits, mindset, and character strengths that go beyond test scores. From our student Honor Roll to our Parent Honor Roll, from our vibrant student clubs to daily two-way communication, everything we do is designed to build confident, capable leaders — and to keep families right at the center of it all.
